Rooted Cafe and Catering Celebrates Ribbon Cutting in Northwest Austin

June 10, 2026 | Austin, TX    Rooted Cafe and Catering, a fresh food concept focused on high-protein, seed-oil-free meals, celebrated its ribbon cutting with the West Austin Chamber of Commerce, marking a new chapter for owner Nicole Tomaszewski and the Northwest Austin community.

Located across from the YMCA near the River Place and Steiner Ranch areas, Rooted Cafe and Catering was created to make healthy food more accessible for busy professionals, families and community members looking for convenient meals that do not compromise on quality.

“What the Four Points community has been missing is a place that actually takes your health as seriously as you do — and in some cases, even more so,” said Steve Carnes, West Austin Chamber ambassador and owner of KDC Designs, during the ribbon cutting. “Well, that changes today.”

Carnes said Rooted Cafe and Catering is more than a restaurant opening its doors.

“It is a statement,” Carnes said. “A statement that convenience and quality do not have to be enemies. It’s a statement that says you shouldn’t have to choose between eating well and eating fast.”

Rooted serves protein-forward meals made with real, whole ingredients and no seed oils. Most meals are designed to include 30 to 50 grams of protein, with a focus on fresh food, high-fiber ingredients, bold flavor and locally sourced products whenever possible.

Carnes said the restaurant fills a need for healthy food options in the area, especially for people balancing meetings, workdays, family schedules and community commitments.

“The food you grab between your 10 a.m. meeting and your noon meeting should fuel your afternoon instead of tame it,” Carnes said. “Nicole didn’t just open a healthy place. Anybody could stick the words ‘clean food’ on a menu board. Rooted didn’t just create a concept — they built a standard.”

Rooted Cafe and Catering also offers catering services for chambers, local businesses, community events and private gatherings. The business has already catered multiple local events, including Chamber gatherings and community programs.

Tomaszewski, who also serves as executive director of the West Austin Chamber of Commerce, said the ribbon cutting was especially meaningful after years of working in the local business community.

“Most of you here are from the West Austin Chamber, and I just want to say I love you guys,” Tomaszewski said. “I have been with this Chamber since 2019.”

Tomaszewski said she opened another restaurant shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic began and never had the opportunity to hold a ribbon cutting for that business.

“Finally, seven years later, I get to do this,” Tomaszewski said. “And I’m much prouder of what I’m doing today than what I was doing then anyway, so I think it works out.”

She thanked her team, family, Chamber members and community supporters for showing up to celebrate the opening.

“I’m so thankful for so many people coming out to support me,” Tomaszewski said. “I could stand up here and individually thank everyone here because you have all done something to support my business in some form or fashion, and I love all of you.”

Tomaszewski said Rooted will continue evolving its menu and listening to feedback from customers.

“I hope everybody gets to try the food. I hope you love it,” Tomaszewski said. “If you don’t love it, please tell me. I want to know what we can do better. We are working on some new recipes. I think it will be an ongoing thing.”

Rooted was built around a simple belief: Food should fuel life, not slow it down. The restaurant’s menu is designed for people who want healthier grab-and-go options, high-protein meals, high-fiber ingredients and catering that supports energy, focus and wellness.

The Rooted standard includes protein-forward meals, seed-oil-free cooking, real ingredients, local sourcing when possible and food crafted with intention. The restaurant also plans to support the broader Austin community through partnerships with local schools, nonprofits and community organizations.

Rooted Cafe and Catering aims to serve Northwest Austin, River Place, Steiner Ranch, Four Points and surrounding communities with fresh food designed for healthier, more energized lives.

“On behalf of the West Austin Chamber, it is my honor to welcome Rooted Cafe and Catering into the community,” Carnes said. “Nicole and her team have built something real, something needed and something rooted in exactly what this area deserves and has been missing.”
