Unchained.Art Gallery Cuts the Ribbon on Creativity and Community
The West Austin Chamber of Commerce proudly celebrated the grand opening and ribbon cutting of Unchained.Art Gallery, located at 311 W. 7th Street, Suite 307 in downtown Austin.
This inspiring new Austin art gallery is redefining what it means to experience creativity — opening its doors to artists and visitors alike who believe art should be approachable, authentic, and unchained from convention.
A New Chapter for Local Art
During the event, West Austin Chamber Executive Director Nicole Tomaszewski welcomed guests and shared her excitement for supporting local entrepreneurs.
“Thank you for coming out tonight to support Christina and her brand new space,” said Tomaszewski. “The Chamber is all about helping to make businesses successful, so we’re here to support her — to create connections and hopefully inspire you to tell your friends and family about this beautiful space. Together, we can create a ripple effect that brings new customers and clients through these doors.”
The evening brought together Chamber members, business leaders, and art enthusiasts who came to celebrate a fresh voice in the local art scene — and the creative vision behind it.
Breaking the Rules, Building Connections
Founder and owner Christina Hiltscher shared her inspiration for the name and spirit of the gallery:
“It’s called unchained.art because there are rules in the art world that I don’t agree with,” Hiltscher explained. “So Unchained.Art has fewer rules. An artist doesn’t necessarily need a fine art degree to exhibit with me. It’s about the artist. It’s about the work. It’s about the story.”
Hiltscher’s mission is to make art more accessible and inclusive — both for creators and for those who simply love to experience it.
“I want people to feel comfortable coming in here,” she said. “There’s no bad question. You don’t have to be an expert in art to enjoy it. You should be able to experience it and connect with it just the same.”
Celebrating Creativity in West Austin
As guests explored the gallery, the excitement was palpable — each room filled with conversation, color, and creativity.
“I’m really happy to celebrate this new chapter with all of you,” Hiltscher shared as the ribbon was officially cut and applause filled the space.
