Short Workouts, Big Results: Strength Training Studio Opens in Steiner Ranch
By Madison Mendoza
AUSTIN, Texas — March 2026
The West Austin Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed a new fitness studio to the Steiner Ranch community, celebrating the opening of MaxStrength Fitness with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside owners Madison and Devaka Randeniya.
The studio introduces a specialized approach to strength training designed to help clients build muscle safely and efficiently, particularly older adults seeking sustainable fitness routines.
A Different Approach to Strength Training
MaxStrength Fitness centers its program on short, highly structured workouts. Unlike traditional gyms, the studio operates entirely by appointment and offers one-on-one personal training sessions lasting about 20 minutes, twice per week.
The training environment is intentionally minimal. There are no mirrors, loud music or crowded workout floors, which allows clients to focus on proper movement and trainer guidance.
The program emphasizes slow, controlled movements that isolate individual muscles. Trainers guide clients through each exercise until muscular fatigue while allowing extended recovery time between workouts.
“Twenty-minute workouts twice a week, where you reach muscular failure during each set, help take momentum out of the movement and isolate the muscle,” said co-owner Madison Randeniya. “We wanted this for ourselves, so we decided to bring it here. We’re hoping our neighbors benefit from the low-impact, safe and efficient workouts we provide.”
Advocates of the method say it can help reduce stress on joints and lower the risk of injury compared with higher-impact training methods.
Focus on Long-Term Health
For trainers working in the studio, the approach offers benefits beyond strength gains.
“I started doing it myself, and my strength has actually continued to increase over the last several months,” personal trainer Ryan Johnston said. “The difference is my elbows, shoulders and knees feel significantly better. It’s not just something I’m promoting — I’ve experienced the benefits firsthand.”
Strength training also plays a role in preventive health as people age, Johnston said.
“If my mother lived closer, I’d train her here to help prevent osteoporosis,” he said. “The goal is to help people stay independent longer and remain active in their own homes.”
Personal trainer Sybil Lozano said the studio’s method appealed to her because of its emphasis on safety.
“What drew me to MaxStrength Fitness was the therapeutic approach,” Lozano said. “The workouts are designed to be safe, efficient and effective while reducing strain on joints and bones.”
Community Support
Community members and Chamber representatives attended the ribbon cutting celebration to welcome the new business.
Bondi Bowls provided acai bowls during the event, and Sage Blossom Massage offered chair massages for guests.
“Health and wellness are always important,” said Tori Wilson of Sage Blossom Massage. “Helping people stay strong and healthy is a great benefit for the community.”
With its personalized training model and focus on low-impact strength development, MaxStrength Fitness aims to provide Steiner Ranch residents with an option for maintaining long-term fitness and mobility.
